Solemn ceremony held to mark 70th founding anniversary of War Zone D

(ĐN)- A solemn ceremony was held on December 22 to celebrate 70th founding anniversary of War Zone D (1946-2016) and the 55th founding anniversary of Central Committee for South Vietnam (1961-2016) at Southeastern Region Party Committee Relic in Vinh Cuu district.

The event was attended by former State Presidents Nguyen Minh Triet and Truong Tan Sang; former Permanent Member of Party Central Secretariat; former Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung; Secretary Nguyen Phu Cuong of Dong Nai provincial Party Committee, Vice Secretary of the provincial Party Committee Tran Van Tu; Chairman Dinh Quoc Thai of the provincial People’s Committee; Vice Secretary of the provincial Party Committee Phan Thi My Thanh; along with former leaders of the province and other delegates who are war veterans from southeastern provinces.

During the ceremony, the participants offered incense and paid minute's silence in memory of martyrs at the Memorial Stele at Southeastern Region Party Committee and Ma Da Martyr Cemetery.

At the event, Secretary Nguyen Phu Cuong reviewed the 70 year history of War Zone D with glorious victories, stressing that War Zone D was a place to connect battle regions nationwide, a place for leading movements and ammunition supply and food for revolution. It was also a place of training revolutionary officials and a place where many revolutionary forces were established.

The secretary also affirmed that the establishment of War Zone D is a pride of Southern revolutionary and the nation as well. It is also an embodiment of Southeastern Region’s heroic spirit, expressing his deep gratitude to martyrs and contributions made by ethnic minority people in the war zone people for their sacrifice and dedication to the liberation, construction and defence of the country. Value of War Zone D, the pride of Dong Nai, Southeastern Region and the country as well, will continued to be promoted, he said, adding that this is also the motivation for Dong Nai to boost socio-economic development, ensure defence security, etc.

Secretary Nguyen Phu Cuong called on local officials, Party members, soldiers and people to promote revolutionary spirit, patriotic movements and well implement the 10^th Resolution of Dong Nai Party Committee and the 12th Resolution of the Central Party Committee.

Also at the ceremony, an exchange between revolutionary veterans who used to take part in revolutionary activities at War Zone D and young people was held. The provincial People’s Committee also offered gifts to war veterans and revolutionary contributors.
