At the event, delegates recalled heroic traditions and indomitable spirit of imprisoned troops at Tan Hiep Prison in the past. At that time, the savage torture of the American invaders and their lackeys at the prison led to an uprising and prison break with the participation of thousands of revolutionary soldiers. As a result, 462 soldiers escaped from the prison while 22 others died. However, the event became a resounding victory during the first stage of the Vietnam's Southern revolution.

In 1994, Tan Hiep Prison was recognized as a national historical relic site. On this occasion, the restoration of Tan Hiep Prison Historical Site was unveiled.
