 Party and State leaders on October 4 met with voters in localities around the country to listen to their ideas to be raised to the upcoming second session of the 14th National Assembly (NA).

Politburo member and Permanent member of the Party Central Committee's Secretariat Dinh The Huynh and NA deputies of Da Nang city briefed voters on the preparations of the second session.

Addressing the meeting, Politburo member Huynh said voters’ opinions have significantly contributed to helping the National Assembly (NA), the government and functional agencies successfully fulfil their operations.

The Party, State and NA have always been resolute in the goal of sustainable socio-economic development and have never allowed the environment to be sacrificed for temporary economic growth, he said, noting that relevant agencies will enhance supervision and treatment over the discharge of wastewater in all major projects around the country.

On the same day, Politburo member, Secretary of the Party Central Committee (PCC) and Head of the PCC’s Commission for Education and Information Vo Van Thuong and NA deputies of Dong Nai province had meetings with voters in Long Thanh and Nhon Trach districts and the city of Bien Hoa.

At the meeting, voters voice their concern on a number of pressing issues related to environmental pollution, land acquisition; site clearance and compensation; and illegal sand exploitation.

Politburo member Thuong welcomed and thanked the voters for raising questions on the country’s hot issues at present.

He also promised to report these issues to the National Assembly and relevant agencies to seek appropriate solutions.

Also on October 4, Politburo member, Secretary of the PCC and Head of the PCC’s Economic Commission Nguyen Van Binh met with voters in Vo Ninh commune, Quang Ninh district, the central province of Quang Binh.

At the meeting, voters were briefed on the tentative agenda of the upcoming session of the 14th NA as well as the socio-economic situation of the country and Quang Binh province over the past nine months.

Voters voiced their concerns over numerous pressing issues including the serious marine environmental pollution in the central coastal region and solutions to stabilise social security for people in affected localities as well as measures to supervise and ensure the Formosa Ha Tinh Steel Corporation fully implements committed responsibilities.

Applauding the open and constructive opinions raised by the voters, Politburo member Binh said the Government will offer long-term solution packages to support people in affected localities including issuing policies related to recovery and regenerate fishery resources and marine ecosystems to ensure long-term fishing grounds for fishermen and reducing interest rates on loans for affected people to recover production as well as supporting local people with vocational training, jobs, health insurance and labour export.

Previously on October 3, Politburo member Nguyen Van Binh had a working session with key officials of the Quang Binh provincial Party Standing Committee, discussing the socio-economic situation in the first nine months of 2016 and major plans for the coming time.
