Cuba determined to strengthen special ties with Vietnam

The Cuban Party, State and people will exert every effort to reinforce and strengthen the special relations with Vietnam, said a Cuban official.

The Cuban Party, State and people will exert every effort to reinforce and strengthen the special relations with Vietnam, said a Cuban official.

Salvador Valdes Mesa, Vice President of the Council of State and Special Envoy of First Secretary of the Communist Party of Cuba’s Central Committee and President of the Council of State Raul Castro Ruz, made the confirmation while being received by Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong in Hanoi on June 20.

The Party chief said the ongoing visit to Vietnam by Salvador Valdes Mesa demonstrates the mutual trust between the two countries’ top leaders as well as the time-honoured friendship, faithful solidarity and all-around cooperation between Vietnamese and Cuban Parties, States and peoples.

He congratulated the Communist Party of Cuba (PCC) on the successful organisation of its 7 th National Congress and spoke highly of the remarkable achievements that Cuba has reaped during the process of updating its socio-economic model along with its attainments in external affairs over the past few years.

Major policies, guidelines and measures on politics and socio-economy adopted at the 7th PCC National Congress will help Cuba overcome difficulties and challenges towards sustainable economic development, while successfully defending the country’s revolutionary achievements to firmly march on the path of socialism, he said.

Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong also reiterated the support and solidarity of the Vietnamese Party, State and people towards the Cuban cause of national building and development, adding that the faithful relations between the two Parties, State and peoples are valuable assets that need to be preserved, nurtured and passed on to future generations.

Salvador Valdes Mesa also congratulated the Communist Party of Vietnam on its successful 12th National Congress, voicing his belief that the Resolution adopted at the event will help the Vietnamese Party, State and people reap more successes during the “Doi Moi” (renewal) process.
