Talking with Vietnam News Agency correspondents in Japan, Cuong said that the bilateral relations are in their best-ever development phase though the potential to develop the ties further remains huge.

During the visit, the Party leader and other senior officials will have meetings with Emperor Akihito, Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, leaders of major parties and representatives of big economic groups to discuss measures to intensify political trust and foster multi-faceted ties.

Several agreements are expected to be signed during the visit, he added.

According to the diplomat, together with the Party chief’s trips to China in April and the US in July, the visit to Japan is one of the leading foreign relations activities of the Party and State in 2015. The visits are a part of a master plan to implement a foreign policy of independence, self-reliance, multi-lateralisation and diversification of international relations and proactive global integration.

They hold an increasing strategic importance as the 12th National Party Congress will be organised at the beginning of next year, he stated.

Japanese top leaders all appreciated Vietnam’s improving position and role in the region and the world, and wished to intensify practical and effective relations with Vietnam, Cuong said. Therefore, both sides attach importance to this visit and intend to exert every effort to make it a success for the interests of the two peoples and for peace, cooperation and development in the region and the world.

Regarding the embassy’s preparations for the visit, Ambassador Cuong shared that all preparation efforts are more or less completed.
