Chief Judge of the VPSC Truong Hoa Binh had separate talks with Chief Justice of the RoK’s Supreme Court Yang Sung-tae, Minister of Court Administration Park Byoung-dae, Deputy Minister for Multilateral and Global Affairs Shin Dong-ik and President of the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) Kim Young-mok.

Binh informed the host about the outcomes of judicial reform in Vietnam as well as the role and position of the people’s courts according to the country’s 2013 Constitution.

He also overviewed progress on implementing the KOICA-funded project to enhance capacity for court officials in Vietnam.

He said Vietnamese Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam has signed a decision to set up a court academy under the VPSC to ensure high-quality human resources for the sector.

The Chief Judge thanked the RoK Government, Supreme Court and KOICA for assisting the VPSC in improving material facilities and personnel training and hoped to receive more support from Korean partners in the future.

He granted the insignia “For the Cause of the Court of Vietnam” to Yang Sung-tae, Park Byoung-dae and other individuals in recognition of their significant contributions to promoting cooperation between the two countries’ courts.

During the working visit, the Vietnamese delegation visited the RoK judicial research and training centre, the supreme court information technology centre and the Seoul family court.

On August 18, the delegation attended a ceremony to mark 70 years of Vietnam’s Public Security and 10 years of the “All people protect national security” movement.
