At the meeting, the department’s representative inquired after and presented the Ministry of National Defence’s gifts to the delegates, and briefed them on the gratitude activities of troops in the whole army over the past years.
Accordingly, since 2006, the whole army units built around 12,000 gratitude houses, contributed VND 600 billion to charity funds, taken care of 1,440 heroic Vietnamese mothers, supported 1,000 martyrs’ children, and provided jobs for 220 relatives of war invalids and sick soldiers under treatment at convalescent centres in the whole country.
In the last two years, the Ministry presented medical equipment to convalescent centres for war invalids, provided free health check-ups and medicines for 20,000 policy beneficiaries, and repaired or upgraded many structures in commemoration of martyrs.
