Vietnam always bears in mind the assistance provided by Chinese advisors and experts during its anti-French resistance war, President Truong Tan Sang said while receiving a delegation of former experts’ families in Hanoi on April 23.
Their visit came at a time when the country is gearing up for the 60th anniversary of Dien Bien Phu victory.
President Sang said he hopes both sides will facilitate the exchange of visits to educate young generations on the Vietnam – China friendship.
Vice Chairman of the China –Vietnam Friendship Association Qi Jianguo thanked the Vietnamese ministries and localities for offering them tours of cultural and historic sites, expressing belief that the bilateral ties will be lifted to a greater height on the back of mutual efforts.
Qi informed his host that the delegation will discuss tourism cooperation with Vietnamese agencies concerned.
The same day, President of the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organisations Vu Xuan Hong welcomed the Chinese guests, saying that the former Chinese advisors and experts have made contributions to Vietnam – China ties.
Qi said both associations should organise more activities to bolster people-to-people friendship, particularly the collection of documents and artifacts related to memorable events throughout the Vietnamese and Chinese history.
