The Government chief made the statement while meeting with US Secretary of State John Kerry in Ha Noi on Monday.

Regarding the human right issue, PM Dung said both countries have held dialogues on the basis of cooperative and constructive spirit and mutual understanding, not to let it impede the bilateral cooperation.

Welcoming the US assistance for climate change response and its care for sustainable use of Mekong river water resources, PM Dung asked the US to support regional countries to protect the environment, cope with climate change and manage the water resources toward sustainable development.

PM Dung also urged the US to recognize Viet Nam’s market economy status and both countries need to find out solutions trade issues soon.

For East Sea issue, PM Dung welcomed the US’s support for ASEAN and Viet Nam’s stance of solving disputes through peaceful measures, on the basis of international law, including the 1982 UN Convention on the Law of the Sea, strict observation of the Declaration on the Conduct of Parties in the East Sea (DOC) and working toward the conclusion of the Code of Conduct (COC).

Mr. John Kerry said that all disputes in the East Sea need to be settled through peaceful measures and on the basis of international law.

He said successful TPP talks will help boost the relations between Viet Nam and the US, especially in economic, trade and investment areas./.
