PM Dung welcomes US Trade Representative

Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung on December 2 received Representative of the US International Trade Commission (ITC) Michael B.G.Froman who is on a working visit to Vietnam.

Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung on December 2 received Representative of the US International Trade Commission (ITC) Michael B.G.Froman who is on a working visit to Vietnam.

PM Dung highlighted the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) Agreement as a firm foundation for further boosting cooperation among concerned parties including Vietnam and the US.

Becoming involved in the World Trade Organization (WTO) and the Vietnam-US Bilateral Trade Agreement (BTA), Vietnam has always fully implemented its commitment, promoted the market economy and deeper integration into the world economy to achieve rapid and sustainable growth.

To reach the goals in TPP negotiations, Vietnam will endeavour to work closely with the US, adding that there should be a flexibility in line with the development level of each nation and the TPP leaders’ vision of moving towards a mutually beneficial and fair agreement for all members.He also suggested the US consider Vietnam’s practical conditions especially their approach to the garment and footwear market aiming to reach an agreement acceptable for both sides.

In reply, US Trade Representative Froman said the successful TPP negotiations will represent a landmark in enhancing Vietnam-US cooperation in economics, trade and investment.
