Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung has suggested both sides speed up the signing of Vietnam-US double tax avoidance agreement.

At a November 14 reception for visiting US Treasury Secretary Jacob J. Lew, PM Dung spoke highly of the working results and cooperation between the two finance ministries as well as US technical assistance for taxation, public accounting, one-stop-shop (OSS) customs and macroeconomic analysis model.

Two two sides need to make greater efforts to foster economic, trade, investment cooperation for mutual benefit, Dung stressed while calling for the conclusion of the Trans Pacific Strategic Economic Partnership Agreement (TPP) negotiations this year and early recognition of Vietnam's full market economy status.

The Government leader said Vietnam- a WTO member always implements its commitments to performing a market economy and boosting global economic integration for rapid and sustainable development.

Vietnam will closely work hand in hand with the US in the TPP negotiation process to reach an balanced agreement in the interests of all TPP members, Dung noted.

For his part, the US Treasury Secretary affirmed his country's willingness to cooperate with Vietnam in various fields, especially in economics, trade and investment and to accelerate negotiations on double tax avoidance agreement.

He also added  that the US expects inflexibility from Vietnam in the TPP negotiations on e-payment and investment dispute.
