General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) Nguyen Phu Trong has expressed hope that Thailand’s ruling Pheu Thai Party (PTP) will continue to work for a stronger strategic partnership between the two countries.
Receiving PTP Senior Adviser Somchai Wongsawat in Hanoi on October 1, the Vietnamese Party leader noted that the two sides should enhance delegation exchanges and experience sharing on the implementation of economic development measures.
He said the PTP delegation’s visit to Vietnam from September 30 to October 4 marks an important event in the two parties’ relations.
Speaking highly of the talks between the CPV and PTP delegations, General Secretary Trong thanked the Thai Government for its co-operation on national construction and development and at regional and international forums. He also praised its support of the Vietnamese community in Thailand.
For his part, Somchai Wongsawat asserted that the PTP would pay more attention to the consolidation and further development of the traditional friendship between the two peoples and parties.
He also affirmed the Thai people’s respect for late President Ho Chi Minh and expressed his pleasure at the great achievements Vietnam has recorded during the renewal process.
The Thai official said he believes that under the CPV’s leadership, the Vietnamese people will successfully complete the industrialisation and modernisation process and improve the country’s position in the region and the world community.
Earlier, Hoang Binh Quan, head of CPVCC’s Commission for External Relations, held talks with Somchai Wongsawat.
The two sides briefed each other on the situation of their respective parties and discussed ways to strengthen relations between the two parties, contributing to effective implementation of the Vietnam-Thailand strategic partnership.
