Thousands of people were waiting to pay respect to the General in front of his home on Hoang Dieu Street, Hanoi in the afternoon of October 7.
In the afternoon of October 7, under the chairmanship of Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc, the national organizing board of the mourning ceremony of General Vo Nguyen Giap held a plenary session.

During the two days of mourning on October 12 and 13, public offices and places will fly national flags at half-mast while entertainment activities will be postponed.
The memorial and burial services will be broadcast live by Vietnam Television (VTV) and Radio the Voice of Vietnam (VOV).
