General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong made the statement during a ceremony in Hanoi on October 16 to mark the 65th anniversary of Party inspection (October 16, 1948-2013).

He praised the achievements and advancements of the Party inspection committees and inspectors at all levels over the past 65 years.

The Party always pays great attention to carrying out inspections and maintaining Party discipline, which should be promoted in the new situation to strengthen the Party and meet new requirements, stressed General Secretary Trong.

He asked Party comittees, Party organisations and their leaders to consistently monitor and implement the inspection work while devising annual inspection plans in line with the Party resolution on Party building and the Politburo directive on studying and following President Ho Chi Minh’s moral example.

Experience has shown that violations of Party organisations and members have resulted primarily from lack of inspection and oversight, the Party leader said.

The inspection work should be conducted regularly, comprehensively, democratically and carefully with a focus on taking preventive measures, clarifying pros and cons, encouraging new factors and promoting the dynamism and creativity of Party organisations and their members, he added.

General Secretary Trong also stressed requirements for inspectors’ ethics and their capacity to fight against wrongdoing and violations. He asked Party committees to enhance the inspectors’ capacities and create favourable conditions for them to complete their inspections.

Addressing the ceremony, Politburo member, PCC Secretary and Head of the Party Commission for Inspection Ngo Van Du stated that the Party inspection has made developments and contributions to the national revolutionary cause that have been recognised with numerous medals and titles awarded by the Party and State.

On behalf of the Party and State, State President Truong Tan Sang presented Independence Medals, Second and Third Class to Deputy Heads of the Party Commission for Inspection Le Hong Liem and Nguyen Cong Ngo.

The Commission also presented certificates of merit and emulation recognition flags to groups and individuals with outstanding performances.
