Politburo member and Deputy PM Nguyen Thien Nhan has also worked as Chairman of the Viet Nam Fatherland Front (VFF) for the organization’s 7th tenure.

This was adopted at the sixth VFF Central Committee Conference in Ha Noi on September 5.
On behalf of the Politburo, State President Truong Tan Sang nominated Deputy PM Nhan to the Chairman post as Huynh Dam retired.
Deputy PM Nhan's nomination was totally approved by 300 delegates present at the conference.
The new VFF President thanked for the delegates' support, saying that it was his honour to undertake the great task entrusted by the Party and the VFF.
He called on people from all walks of life and overseas Vietnamese to continue to support and take part in campaigns and movements organised by the VFF, in order to strengthen and promote the national unity in building and protecting the nation.
He also praised his predecessor’s accomplishments and his contributions to the Party’s revolutionary cause, the national unity and the VFF.
He promised to do his utmost in the new capacity to reinforce the national unity and further promote the VFF’s role in the new period.
