At a reception for the visiting French diplomat in Hanoi on August 5, Hung assured his guest that the Vietnam National Assembly supports and makes every effort to boost cooperation between the two countries.

He proposed that the French Foreign Ministry promote links between the Vietnam NA and France’s bicameral parliament based on cooperative agreements signed in 2004 and 2008.

Fabius briefed Hung on the results of his earlier talks with Vietnamese Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh.

He said the two foreign ministries discussed measures to boost cooperative ties, especially in economics and trade.

They agreed to accelerate exchange visits, strengthen current dialogue mechanisms in diplomacy-defence, economics-trade-investment and science-technology, as well as increasing cooperation in education, training and culture.

The two countries will work closely together to facilitate French business operations in Vietnam.

Minister Fabius expressed his optimism about the fine development of Vietnam-France ties and affirmed that in its external policy, the French government attaches importance to expanding ties with Asian countries, including Vietnam.
