Republic of Korean President Park Geun-hye will pay an official visit to Vietnam from September 7-11 to discuss bilateral cooperation, especially in economics, with Vietnamese leaders.
A Seoul-based Vietnam News Agency correspondent quoted a source from the RoK President Office, saying this will be Park’s third overseas trip since she took office in February 2013.
She is scheduled to use the September 9 meeting with Vietnamese President Truong Tan Sang to kick-start her so-called “Sales Diplomacy” mission in an effort to expand comprehensive cooperation with this Southeast Asian nation.
She will also meet with leading Vietnamese leaders, including Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung, and National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung.
Discussions will focus on the establishment of a mutually beneficial free trade agreement and stronger cooperation in nuclear energy and industrial technology.
The leaders will touch upon the RoK’s official development assistance to Vietnam, including a project to build a sci-tech research institute in Vietnam.
