Nearly VND3.7 bil raised to help poor veterans

(ĐN)- On January 25, Dong Nai War Veterans’ Association organized a ceremony to review its activities in 2012 and launch emulation movements in 2013.

(ĐN)- On January 25, Dong Nai War Veterans’ Association organized a ceremony to review its activities in 2012 and launch emulation movements in 2013.

Vice Chairman Nguyen Thanh Tri of the provincial People’s Committee attended the meeting.

In 2012, the association admitted 1,267 new members, bringing the number of its members to 29,400. The association raised nearly VND3.7 billion from their members to provide preferential loans to help its members develop household economics,

Its members also supported seedlings and breeding animals for poor households,  contributed tens of thousands of working days to build and upgrade rural roads. So far, the association's Fund has collected more than VND25.4 billion to care for veterans.

Addressing at the ceremony, Vice Chairman Nguyen Thanh Tri noted  that the association and its agencies should continue to boost political thought education, grasp thoroughly and implement Party's policies and resolutions.

Tri also stressed that the association should made further efforts to improve its members’ standard of living and reduce the rate of poor war veteran families, actively participate in building new rural areas and local emulation movements, contributing to the province’s achievements.
