Vietnam and Laos should further strengthen cooperation in legal activities, especially in the making and verification of laws.
National Assembly Vice Chairman Uong Chu Luu made the suggestion while receiving a delegation from the Lao NA’s Law Committee led by its head Davone Vangvichith in Hanoi on October 11.
At the reception, Luu said that the visit is of great significance as it takes place when the two countries are celebrating the 50 th anniversary of their diplomatic ties and 35 years of the signing of the Vietnam-Lao Friendship and Cooperation Treaty.
He affirmed that the Vietnamese NA attaches special importance to its relations with the Lao counterpart as well as supports the cooperation, and information and experience exchange between the two countries’ NA deputies.
Davone Vangvichith, who is visiting Vietnam from October 10-15, expressed his wish that Vietnam will continue to share its experience with Laos in building legal documents and enhancing supervision of law enforcement.
Earlier, the Lao delegation had a working session with Deputy Head of the Vietnamese NA’s Law Committee Tran Dinh Long. The two sides exchanged views on issues relating to mechanisms for the passing of laws and coordination between the NA and the Government in drafting laws.
The same day, the Lao lawmakers also worked with a delegation from the Vietnamese NA’s Legislative Research Institute led by its director Dinh Xuan Thao.
