Nguyen Ngoc Son, the President’s Envoy responsible for the Francophone and assistant to the Foreign Minister, visited Canada from October 1-4.
During his visit, Son met with the advisor for external relations representing Canadian Prime Minister John Hannaford and officials from Canada’s Foreign Ministry.
The Vietnamese diplomat stated that Vietnam now has international prestige as well as the necessary experience for hosting the 15th Francophone Summit in 2014, helping connect and develop the French-speaking community.
He said he hoped that the Canadian Government will support Vietnam in this issue.
The International Francophone Organisation was first established in 1970, to maintain and develop cooperation, especially in culture, between member countries.
The 14 th Francophone Summit is scheduled to take place in the Congo in late October this year.
