The Deputy PM handed over a letter from President Truong Tan Sang to Plevneliev, which shows Vietnam ’s interest in the proposal of President Rosen Plevneliev and the Bulgarian Government on a new bilateral cooperation model, in which Vietnam will export semi-processed goods to Bulgaria for direct processing in ports of Bulgaria and then for export to the European market.
Nhan said he and his Bulgarian counterpart has assigned the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Vietnam and the Bulgaria’s Ministry of Economic, Energy and Tourism to consider the feasibility of the proposal and build a proper legal framework and specific measures to implement.
He thanked the Bulgarian Government for favourable conditions created for the Vietnamese community living and studying in the country over the past years and expressed his hope that the Bulgarian Government will continue its support for the community.
Nhan also took the occasion to convey the invitation to visit Vietnam of President Truong Tan Sang to President Rosen Plevneliev.
For his part, President Rosen Plevneliev spoke highly of the visit, affirming that Bulgaria wants to restore and develop the traditional friendship for mutual benefit with Vietnam.
He said he hopes Vietnam-Bulgaria relations will be lifted to a strategic partnership level.
On the same day, Deputy PM Nguyen Thien Nhan met with Bulgarian Minister of Culture Vejdi Rashidov, Minister of Education, Youth and Science Sergei Ignatov.
He also witnessed the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the University of Social Sciences and Humanity at the Hanoi National University and the Sofia University on establishing the Vietnamese language faculty in Sofia University.
Earlier on Sept. 3, Nhan met Minister of Foreign Affairs Nikolai Mladenov and witnessed the signing of a MoU between Vietnam Diplomatic Academy and Bulgarian Diplomacy Institute. Nhan then met with Bulgarian Deputy Minister of Economic, Energy and Tourism. He left Sofia for Hanoi on Sept. 4, successfully wrapped up his first visit to Bulgaria.
