Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung called for more awareness against corruption, and perfection of policies on land use and management, and the State-owned enterprises management at the 18 th session of the Central Steering Committee for Anti-Corruption in Hanoi on August 22.

Addressing the event, Dung said the prevention and the fight against corruption saw positive results during the past seven months. The awareness work and regulations on the fight were paid due attention and increasingly effective, and more corruption was discovered and strictly dealt with.

However, he pointed out that some units and agencies fail to pay due attention to preventing and combating corruption, the amendment and supplement of laws on anti-corruption remain slow, and some corruption cases are delayed, causing public concern.

Dung also asked relevant agencies to improve investigation, inspection, audit, prosecution and trial, as well as speed up the settlement of corruption cases, especially serious and complex ones.

In the first six months of this year, the inspection sector conducted 6,056 administrative inspections, required to collect 6.482 trillion VND for the State budget, 1,291 hectares of land and posed 258 billion VND in fines for administrative violations.

Particularly, the case of Nguyen Ngoc Quyen, who took advantage of his position and power while carrying out duty in land use and management in Vinh Yen city, Vinh Phuc province, and the case of “deliberately violating the State regulations on economic management that cause severe consequences” at the Vietnam National Shipping Lines were brought to trial.
