A delegation from the National Assembly led by Vice Chairman Uong Chu Luu, visited Argentina on June 28-29 to boost relations between the two legislative bodies and learn from Argentina’s experiences in legislation and supervision.

At their talks, Vice Chairman Luu praised the role Argentina plays in Latin America, saying that the development of cooperative relations between the two legislative bodies in regional and international parliamentary organisations has helped to link Asia to South America as well as between South-South countries.

He also applauded the activities held by the Argentina-Vietnam Cultural Institute over the past 15 years for promoting friendship and solidarity between both countries.

The leaders of Argentina’s Parliament, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Justice and National Academy of Law and Social Sciences gave a presentation on Argentina’s legal system, their experiences in legislation and the roles legislative, executive and judicial bodies as well as the country’s central and local authority system play.

The Argentinean leaders, MPs and diplomats praised the delegation for visiting as it will promote bilateral relations, stating that both countries should speed up relations in politics, economics, culture and science and technology.

Both stressed the role of the friendship parliamentarians’ group in boosting and supervising previous agreements to make bilateral cooperation more effective, which will help with the preparations for the 40th anniversary of diplomatic ties between both countries (1973-2013).

Daniel Filmus, the head of the Upper House’s Foreign Affairs Committee, said that an Argentina-Vietnam friendship parliamentarians’ group will be established in the near future.

Also on the occasion, the Parliament in Buenos Aires awarded the title of Honourable Citizen of the City to Vice Chairman Uong Chu Luu.
