A Vietnamese defence delegation, led by Deputy Minister Nguyen Chi Vinh, took part in the ASEAN Defence Senior Officials’ Retreat Meeting (ADSOM Retreat), which was held in Indonesia on October 22.

At the event, ASEAN high-ranking defence officials compared notes on the results of working groups of experts from ASEAN countries and prepared contents for the ASEAN Defence Ministerial Meeting Plus (ADMM+) on October 24.
On the sidelines of the meeting, the Vietnamese Defence Deputy Minister met with Cambodia’s Minister of National Defence Tea Banh who spoke highly of Vietnam’s role as ASEAN chair.
He expressed Cambodia’s wish to share experience with Vietnam in preparing and organizing multilateral defence-military conferences when the country assumes ASEAN chairmanship in 2012.
In another talk with the Philippines’ Deputy Minister of National Defense Pio Lorenzo F. Batino, Defence Deputy Minister Vinh highlighted the development of bilateral defence cooperation in recent years and preparations for the signing of cooperative documents between the two naval and police forces in the near future.
