A Vietnamese delegation led by Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung left Tashkent on October 4, concluding an official visit to Uzbekistan.

During a two-day stay, Mr Dung held talks with his Uzbekistani counterpart Shavkat Mirziyoyev and met with President Islam Karimov and Senate Chairman Ilgizar Sobirov.

They agreed on a number of measures to increase bilateral cooperation in all fields, with a particular focus on economic, trade and investment cooperation.

They also agreed to take bold measures to support import-export activities, increase trade promotion, facilitate business exchanges and boost cooperation in such potential areas as oil and gas exploration and exploitation, agriculture, fertilizer production, cotton, construction materials, electronics, information technology and telecom.

The two sides laid a strong emphasis on their great potential for cooperation in oil and gas, considering it a key cooperation area in the coming years. They proposed that Vietnam and Uzbekistan finalise procedures for the signing of a business contract between their national oil and gas corporations to explore oil and gas at Uzbekistan’s Burkhara Khiva Area.

Uzbekistani leaders described Mr Dung’s visit as an important event, helping elevate the multifaceted cooperation between Uzbekistan and Vietnam to a new height.
