Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung left Kiev on October 6, concluding an official three-day visit to the Ukraine.
During his stay, Mr Dung held talks with his Ukrainian counterpart Mykola Azarov and met with President Viktor Yanukovych and Parliament Chairman, Vladimir Litvin.
The two sides signed the minutes of the 12th meeting of the Ukraine-Vietnam Intergovernmental Committee for Economic, Trade, Scientific and Technological Cooperation, and a memorandum of understanding between Hanoi National University and Kiev National University. They also signed an agreement on the establishment of a joint venture between the Vietnam Aviation Corporation and the Ukraine’s AERO Service.
The Ukrainian leaders confirmed that developing the friendship and mutually beneficial cooperation with Vietnam is one of the priority areas in their country’s foreign affairs.
The two sides agreed on the great prospect for developing the Vietnam-Ukraine cooperation and comprehensive partnership, which was established during the Ukrainian President’s visit to Vietnam in March 2011.
They discussed measures to increase bilateral cooperation, especially in economics, trade and investment. They vowed to finalise a legal framework for expanding bilateral cooperation in various areas, and increase the operational efficiency of the Vietnam-Ukraine Intergovernmental Committee for Economic, Trade, Scientific and Technical Cooperation.
PM Azarov pledged to create favourable conditions for businesses of the two countries to increase cooperation, exchange information, and seek effective modes of cooperation.
President Yanukovych said the Ukraine is ready to assist Vietnam in the areas of its potential such as oil and gas, mineral ore processing, science and technology, aerospace sciences, machinery manufacturing, as well as national defence and security.
The Ukraine was PM Dung’s last stopover during his European tour. Earlier, he visited the Netherlands and Uzbekistan.
