Dong Nai celebrates 50th anniversary of Ho Chi Minh Sea Trail

(ĐN)- The Naval  Zone 2 High Command held a solemn ceremony in Nhon Trach district’s Thanh Phu commune, Dong Nai province on Friday morning to mark the 50th anniversary of the Ho Chi Minh Trail at Sea (Oct. 23).

(ĐN)- The Naval  Zone 2 High Command held a solemn ceremony in Nhon Trach district’s Thanh Phu commune, Dong Nai province on Friday morning to mark the 50th anniversary of the Ho Chi Minh Trail at Sea (Oct. 23). The event was attended by Mr. Huynh Van Toi, Head of the provincial Department of Propaganda and Training and Mrs. Nguyen Thi Kim Lien, Chairwoman of the Provincial Fatherland Front Committee.

Adressing at the ceremony, Colonel Mai Tien Tuyen, Political Commissar of Naval Zone 2 recalled that  from the time it was established on Oct. 23, 1961, the Ho Chi Minh sea trail fulfilled its task of allowing hundreds of ships to transport weapons, goods, medicine, cadres and soldiers from the rear in the north to the frontline, directly contributing to the entire people’s efforts to defeat the US imperialists and liberate the south, reunifying the country.
 
Also at the event, Mr. Huynh Van Toi expressed his deep gratitude to officials and soldiers on the Ho Chi Minh Trail at Sea for their great contributions and sacrifices for national independence and freedom. Toi also expressed his pleasure with the strong development of the Vietnam People's Navy in general and the Naval  Zone 2 in particular. He said Dong Nai will continue to carry out propaganda programs on sea and islands in order to raise public awareness of the country’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, serving the cause of national industrialisation and modernisation.
 
On this occasion, Mrs. Nguyen Thi Kim Lien and Mr. Nguyen Xuan Chien, Chairwoman and Vice Chairman of Provincial Fatherland Front Committee respectively were awarded the medal “For the cause of protecting the country's sea and island sovereignty” of the Vietnam People's Army Naval Service.
