Dong Nai responds to national action month for anti-HIV/AIDS

(ĐN)- A meeting in response to World Aids Day (December 1) and Vietnam’s national action month for HIV/AIDS control took place at the Dong Nai province in Nov 28.

According to the report from the provincial HIV/AIDS Prevention Centre, the total number of people infected with HIV in Dong Nai has reached 5,435 so far this year, including 2,015 developed to full-blown AIDS. More than 1,300 people have died of the disease.

In Bien Hoa city alone, some 2,490 people tested positive for HIV with 626 of them in the AIDS stage and 337 dead from the incurable disease.

National action month for HIV/AIDS prevention and control takes place from November 10 to December 10 under the theme of accessing information and human rights.

In respond to the action month, Dong Nai Department of Health has organized numerous activities to attract the participation of the community in the fight against HIV/AIDS, strengthen the HIV/AIDS prevention systems, expand healthcare, support and treatment services for HIV/AIDS patients and those exposed to the virus, and eliminate discrimination against HIV carriers.
