Deputy Prime Minister Hoang Trung Hai has ordered the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment to work with local provincial authorities to take urgent steps to control the pollution of the Thi Vai River.

The Thi Vai River basin in southern Dong Nai Province for years has been contaminated by nearby companies that specialize in building infrastructure for industrial parks.

Stricter field inspection and punishments of violators as well as creating a new plan for eliminating pollutants must be done as soon as possible, according to the deputy minister’s instruction.

Factories, trade villages and processing enterprises in the river area will be scrutinized and punished if any violation on environmental sanitation and safety is discovered.
