
(ĐN)- A ceremony was held in Dong Nai province on the morning of May 19 to celebrate the Lord Buddha’s 2552nd birthday, attracting thousands of Buddhist dignitaries and followers in the province. The ceremony is part of celebrations for the United Nations Days of Vesak.

(ĐN)- A ceremony was held in Dong Nai province on the morning of May 19 to celebrate the Lord Buddha’s 2552nd birthday, attracting thousands of Buddhist dignitaries and followers in the province. The ceremony is part of celebrations for the United Nations Days of Vesak.
Mr. Vo Van Mot, Chairman of the Dong Nai provincial People’s Committee and representatives from local departments attended the ceremony.
The ceremony included special Buddhist rituals and prayers performed by monks, nuns and followers.
The UN Secretary General and many Buddhist organizations sent messages to the festival which marks Lord Buddha’s birthday, his Enlightenment and entry into Nirvana.
At the ceremony, Vice Chairwoman of the Provincial People’s Committee Huynh Thi Nga extended congratulations from the provincial Party Committee, People’s Council, People’s Committee and Fatherland Front Committee of Dong Nai.
A festive atmosphere pervaded every locality across the province with the procession of carriages decorated with flowers. Particularly, the provincial Buddhist Sangha held a parade of 67 flower-decorated carriages through major streets in Bien Hoa city on the night of May 18. Another procession, boats decorated with flowers to mark the UN Day of Vesak took place on Dong Nai river on the afternoon of May 19. An art performance and floating flower garlands and coloured lanterns were organised on the same day.
