General Secretary receives Indian communist delegation

The Communist Party of India (Marxist) Secretary General Prakash Karat met his Vietnamese counterpart General Secretary Nong Duc Manh in Ha Noi yesterday.

Karat pledged that the CPI (M) would, together with other political parties in India, do its utmost to gear traditional relations between the two countries towards a strategic partnership.

 

He spoke of the satisfactory outcome of recent talks between the CPI (M) and the Communist Party of Viet Nam (CPV).

 

The CPV leader said Karat’s visit was vivid evidence of strong relations between the two parties and peoples.

 

"The CPI(M) with its strong influence in India will further contribute to strengthening comprehensive co-operation between Viet Nam and India, especially when the two countries have set up a new strategic partnership," Manh said.

 

Earlier, the Indian guests held talks with a CPV delegation led by Tran Van Hang, member of the Party Central Committee and head of the Party Central Committee’s Commission for External Relations.

 

During their stay, the Indian communists met with leaders of the Party committees of Ha Noi, HCM City, Quang Ninh and Dong Nai provinces. They also visited several economic and cultural establishments.
