(ĐN)- On September 11, a delegation of the Korean Consulate in Ho Chi Minh City led by Mr. Chang Keun Sop paid a working visit to Dong Nai province. During the visit, the delegation had a working session with Dong Nai Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs in order to improve labor relationships within Dong Nai based-Korean enterprises.
Receiving the delegation, Deputy Director of the provincial Labor Arbitration Council Lam Duy Tin said that there are presently 159 Korean enterprises doing business in Dong Nai province, attracting more than 83,000 laborers including 730 Korean experts. In the past time, not few strikes occurred at Dong Nai-based Korean enterprises and most labor conflicts were at small-scale enterprises. However, the provincial authorities made all efforts to prevent and settle strikes at the enterprises.
According to Mrs. Mai Thi Tuyet, Secretary of the provincial Labor Arbitration Council, most of the strikes were related to payment disagreements.
At the working session, Mr Chang Keun Sop said that one of the problems the Korean enterprises are facing now is lack of laborers, especially the skillful workers. He will also hold talks with leaders of the enterprises where strikes occurred in order to solve and prevent labor disputes.
In the next time, the Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs will take measures to attract laborers from other localities, focus on training skilled workers in order to continue to draw more foreign investors into the province, said Mr. Lam Duy Tin. Presently, Dong Nai has 75 vocational training centers, Dong Nai vocational training school, the Vocational College No. 8 and Lilama 2 Technical School.
