Dong Nai’s socio-economic situation in the first half

(ĐN)- On July 30, a press conference on the province’s socio-economic development in the first six months of the year was held at the meeting hall of the provincial People’s Committee with the attendance of representatives from press agencies in Dong Nai, HCM city and Central press. The conference was presided over by Deputy Head of the province Party Committee’s Propaganda and Training Department Nguyen Van Long and Vice Chairwoman of the provincial People’s Committee Huynh Thi Nga.

At the conference, Director of Dong Nai province Department of Planning and Investment Bo Ngoc Thu reported that the province’s socio-economic situation in the first half continued to develop, export turnover grew a fair amount, foreign investment attraction increased, poor household rate dropped, etc. Accordingly, Dong Nai maintained a high economic growth rate with GDP growth of 15.4 percent, the highest level for the past years; most socio-economic targets have been met and over-fulfilled.

The representatives also raised concerns about the problems relating to foreign investment policies, the environmental protection work, the administrative reform implementation. Besides, they also expressed interest in measures to reduce traffic accidents, policies to develop and attract human resources, and some important projects like new Dong Nai bridge, etc.

Speaking at the conference, Mr. Nguyen Van Long stressed that the press agencies should continue to enhance propaganda activities in the next time in order to further boost administrative reform, prevent corruption and waste, practice economy, and effectively deploy the second phase of the movement “Studying and following Ho Chi Minh’s moral example”.
