| After several postponements due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Hoa Ban Festival 2022, a popular spring flower festival held in the north and northwestern region, will come back in Dien Bien on March 13. |

| For generations, Ban flowers have been closely associated culturally and spiritually with the Thai and Tay ethnic minority groups residing in the northwestern mountains. |

| In the Thai language, “Ban” means “sweet”. A Ban tree stands between two to six meters tall and has rough, grey bark, and abundant long branches. Ban flowers also feature a soft and sweet fragrance. |

| During this year’s Hoa Ban Festival, visitors will have the chance to enjoy a wide range of activities, such as a food festival, folk singing, and dancing. |

| In March, when the Ban season peaks, mountainsides covered in flowering Ban trees create a romantic picture. The flowers typically have five petals and can be purple, white, or red, although the majority are white. |
