The 33rd Mekong Delta photography festival, spotlighting the local people and land along with regional development, opened in Chau Doc city, An Giang province, on August 8.
Lasting until August 23, the event features the exhibition of 230 photos taken by 278 photographers at Chau Doc’s photography centre and at the Trung Nu Vuong Square in Long Xuyen city.
The photos on display have been selected from 2,408 works that the organising board received from 303 photographers living across 13 Mekong Delta cities and provinces during the past six months.
Most of the entries focus on the charm of the region in general and of An Giang in particular, cultural life of local ethnic communities, and the delta’s socio-economic-cultural achievements in the period of industrialisation and mordernisation.
The Mekong Delta is the biggest rice, fruit and aquatic production hub of Vietnam. However, it is also one of the Vietnamese regions most vulnerable to climate change.
