The National Assembly House is located on the road of Doc Lap (Independence) in Ba Dinh District. The 39m building, with a square shape, is inside the campus of the Thang Long Imperial Citadel. This is the first large office building of central agencies being built after the country’s unification (1975). The building has three-storey underground car park for over 500 vehicles, with an area of 17,000 m2. The tunnel connecting the National Assembly House and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is 60m long, with two lanes for pedestrians and cars. Completed in early October 2014, the building served the 8th session of the National Assembly. The 65-store Lotte Building was inaugurated on the National Day 2014 on Dao Tan Street, Ba Dinh District. With the height of 267m, Lotte Center Hanoi overcomes the BITEXCO Financial Tower in Saigon to be the second highest building in Vietnam, after the 336m Hanoi Landmark Tower.
Vinh Thinh Bridge across the Red River was inaugurated in June 2014. This is the main traffic work on the beltway 5 (Highway 2C) connecting Hanoi and Vinh Phuc. This is the longest river crossing bridge in Vietnam at present, allowing a maximum driving speed of 80km/h.
The $1.5 billion Ha Noi - Lao Cai Highway enables vehicles to run from Hanoi to Lao Cai within 3.5 to 4 hours. Previously, it took travelers nearly 10 hours by train or by car to Sapa, the major tourist site in Lao Cai. The 245km highway is among the largest highway projects in Vietnam, which connects Hanoi to Lao Cai running through the provinces of Vinh Phuc, Phu Tho, and Yen Bai.
The Dong Tru Bridge, connecting Long Bien and Dong Anh districts were opened for traffic on October 10. As part of the extend Highway 5, this bridge contributes to the second ring road of Hanoi, promoting the development of industrial parks and urban areas such as North Thang Long - Van Tri, Dong Anh – Co Loa, and Gia Lam - Sai Dong. The bridge is 1,139 m long, 55 m wide, with three main spans.
Nhat Tan Bridge is part of the overall Ring Road 2 project – the closed inner road inner of Hanoi with a length of 43.6 km. The project has a total investment of more than VND13.6 trillion, including loans from the Japan International Cooperation Agency - JICA and reciprocal funds of the Vietnamese Government. The cable-stayed bridge was inaugurated on January 4, 2015, several months later than schedule.
The construction of Vo Nguyen Giap Road started in August 2012 and it was also opened for traffic on January 4, 2015, the same day as the Nhat Tan Bridge. With a total length of 15 km (12 km of road and 3 km of bridge), this new road shortens the distance and time from Noi Bai airport to Hanoi center and reduce the current load for National Highway 3 and the North Thang Long - Noi Bai Road.
T2 Terminal at Noi Bai Airport is the most modern terminal in Vietnam. Its construction began in February 2012 with a total capital of nearly $900 million, including approximately $691 million of Japanese ODA. Along with the Nhat Tan Bridge and Vo Nguyen Giap Road, the terminal was officially inaugurated on January 4, 2015. The terminal has a capacity of 10-15 million passengers per year. |
