In 1995 the Ministry of Construction defined the scope of the Old Quarter, with Hang Dau Street as the boundary to the north, Phung Hung Street to the west, Hang Bong, Hang Gai, Cau Go and Hang Thung to the south and Tran Quang Khai and Tran Nhat Duat to the east.
In the picture is the intersection of the streets of Hang Dao, Hang Gai and Cau Go. To preserve the old quarter, starting late 2013 to late 2016, over 1,500 families in the old quarter are being relocated to Long Bien district.
In the next five years, more than 5,000 households will be removed from the old quarter.
