Located nearly 30km from the mainland, the two fishing villages of Vung Vieng and Cua Van in Quang Ninh province are known to visitors as they are surrounded by magnificent limestone mountains of Ha Long Bay.

Cua Van village is home to nearly 200 households enjoying a peaceful life on floating boats

Floating boats are designed along the edges of the rocks
These boats are considered local fishermen’s houses
They are closely connected with each other as if they create a small bridge in the village
These boats are very clean and tidy
An altar is erected on each boat to pay respect to their ancestors
Small temples are built to worship the gods, praying for good luck
A mobile food store offers a variety of daily necessities
