Thousands of Buddhist clergy and believers joined the families of war martyrs and local Hanoians in a solemn requiem for General Vo Nguyen Giap at Van Ho Pagoda on October 10.
General Giap, former Commander-in-chief of the Vietnam People’s Army, passed away in Hanoi on October 4 at the age of 103.
The requiem also prayed for the souls of the nation’s heroic war martyrs, honouring the Vietnamese tradition of “when drinking water, remember its source”.
General Giap and the fallen soldiers dedicated their lives to the Vietnamese independence, freedom, and pride.
