The Ministry of Information and Communications (MIC) carries out State management in fields of press, publishing, printing, postal, telecommunication, radio frequency, information technology (IT), electronics, radio and television, electronic information, news, foreign affairs and basic information, according to Decree No. 17/2017/NĐ-CP.
The Ministry of Information and Communications (MIC) carries out State management in fields of press, publishing, printing, postal, telecommunication, radio frequency, information technology (IT), electronics, radio and television, electronic information, news, foreign affairs and basic information, according to Decree No. 17/2017/NĐ-CP.
The MIC guides, organizes and inspects the implementation of programs, plans, projects, mechanisms, policies and regulations on information technology, evaluates the effectiveness of IT application in State capital use and supports businesses and community in applying IT.
The ministry realizes State management on e-Government, maintains, updates and organizes the implementation of the frame e-Government structure in Viet Nam, expertise IT projects and programs and guides the establishment of IT application models at all levels.
It also sets up, monitors and operates IT application infrastructure and e-Government infrastructure, instructs localities to launch IT application and provides smart city services.
In addition, it undertakes other tasks including management on information safety, guaranty of information safety for other information systems as well as granting, extending, amending, supplementing, cancelling and revoking business licenses of IT products and services.
