New regulations on customs declaration

The Ministry of Finance has issued a Circular No. 120/2015/TT-BTC on regulations on management and use of customs declaration forms for people on exit or entry.

The Ministry of Finance has issued a Circular No. 120/2015/TT-BTC on regulations on management and use of customs declaration forms for people on exit or entry.

Accordingly, individual on exit or entry shall have be subjected to customs declaration if he/she has baggage consignment before or after the trip, temporarily imported goods for re-export or temporarily exported goods for re-import; carry products subject to tax, including more than 1.5 liters of liquor of above 22% proof, or more than 2 liters of liquor below 22 % proof, or 3 liters of beer, more than 200 cigarettes, or other items with a total value of over VND10 million.

Individual carrying more than US$5,000 or other currencies or more than VND15 million; or bills of exchange, cheques or gemstones worth more than VND300 million (or nearly US$15,000) while leaving or entering Viet Nam shall be required to declare to the customs officials.

In addition, the customs declaration will also be applicable to individual holding cash equal to or lower than US$5,000 if he/she expects confirmation from customs officials.

The Circular will take effect since October 1, 2015.
