People who sell or gift their vehicles to others must inform the concerned authorities which issue registration certificates.
If the authorities are not informed, these individuals could face administrative action in case the vehicles get involved in an accident or are used for criminal activities.
The order, issued in Circular 15 by the Ministry of Public Security, becomes effective on June 1 and will replace Circular 36 on vehicle registration.
Vehicles referred to in the revised order are cars, tractors, trailers or semi-trailers pulled by carts and tractors, motorbikes and three-wheel motorcycles.
Within 30 days of the ownership rights being transferred, organisations and individuals who purchase or are gifted vehicles must go to vehicle registration agencies to complete the registration procedures on the transfer of ownership.
