Joint Circular No. 01/2007/TTLT-BTM-BCN: Import of cigarettes and cigars

This Circular, jointly issued by the Trade Ministry and the Industry Ministry on January 10, 2007, guides the import of cigarettes and cigars provided for in Government Decree No. 12/2006/ND-CP, detailing the Commercial Law regarding international goods purchase and sale and goods purchase and sale agency, processing and transit with foreign countries.

This Circular, jointly issued by the Trade Ministry and the Industry Ministry on January 10, 2007, guides the import of cigarettes and cigars provided for in Government Decree No. 12/2006/ND-CP, detailing the Commercial Law regarding international goods purchase and sale and goods purchase and sale agency, processing and transit with foreign countries.

 

According to the Circular, cigarettes and cigars imported and circulated on the market must be registered for goods label use right protection in Vietnam, comply with regulations on products circulated on the Vietnamese market, and affixed with import stamps.

 

For cigarettes and cigars which are imported into Vietnam for the first time, importers shall, before carrying out import procedures, send their samples to functional bodies designated by competent state agencies for analysis based on Vietnam standards.

 

Sample analysis certificates will be valid for all lots of imported goods with the same label from the same supplier.
