Joint Circular No. 03/2006/TTLT-BTM-BGTVT-BTC-BCA: On the import of used cars

This Circular was jointly issued by the Ministry of Trade, the Ministry of Transport, the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Public Security on March 31, guiding the import of used passenger cars of less than 16 seats under Government Decree No. 12/2006/ND-CP of January 23, 2006.

Under the Circular, used cars means cars which have been used, registered for at least 6 months and have run at least 10,000 (ten thousand) km up to the time they arrive at Vietnam’s ports.

At the same time, the duration from the manufacturing year of the cars to the time of their arrival to Vietnam’s ports shall not exceed 05 years.

Used cars shall be imported into Vietnam through the international border-gate seaports of Cai Lan - Quang Ninh province, Hai Phong, Da Nang and Ho Chi Minh city. Customs procedures shall be carried out at border-gates of importation. 

This Circular takes effect as from May 1, 2006
