On September 13, the consortium of contractors for Package 4.6, responsible for the construction of Runway 1, taxiways, and aircraft parking aprons, urgently reinstalled several approach and edge lights on Runway 1 at Long Thanh International Airport in preparation for upcoming calibration flights.

Earlier, on April 26, 2025, the lighting system for Runway 1 was completed, officially illuminated, and successfully tested. However, during the execution of subsequent construction packages within the Long Thanh Airport project, heavy equipment and vehicles traversed the runway area, requiring the temporary removal of certain lights to facilitate construction. These lighting components have now been reinstalled to ensure readiness for the calibration process.
According to the approved plan, starting September 26, 2025, the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam, in coordination with relevant units, will begin conducting inspection and calibration flights at Long Thanh Airport. The flights, carried out using Beechcraft B300 aircraft, will span more than 10 days and are scheduled during nighttime or early morning hours to take advantage of off-peak periods and minimize disruptions to commercial operations at Tan Son Nhat International Airport.

Runway 1 at Long Thanh International Airport is 4,000 meters long and 70 meters wide, designed to accommodate the most advanced aircraft currently in operation. Construction of Package 4.6 began in August 2023, led by a consortium of contractors. Originally slated for completion by the end of July 2025, the construction timeline was later adjusted, with the new target set for the end of April 2025, three months ahead of schedule.
According to the contractor consortium, over 95 percent of the total workload under Package 4.6 has been completed, with the construction of Runway 1 essentially finished. The remaining work, located in areas awaiting subsidence settlement, primarily where the runway intersects with the underground infrastructure package at the cargo terminal apron, is expected to be completed in the near future.
