Japan ranks third among foreign investors in Dong Nai

(ĐN) – On August 5, Ms. Nguyen Thi Hoang, member of the Provincial Party Committee and Vice Chairwoman of the Dong Nai Provincial People's Committee, hosted a working session with a delegation of leaders and businesses from Hyogo Prefecture (Japan), led by Hyogo Vice Governor Hattori Yohei.

Also attending the meeting were Japanese Consul General in HCM City Ono Masuo and representatives of Dong Nai's departments and agencies.

Speaking at the event, Vice Governor Hattori Yohei noted that Dong Nai and Hyogo signed a Joint Declaration in 2013 to promote a favorable environment for investment from Hyogo into Dong Nai. Since then, through frequent visits and various exchange activities, the friendship and cooperation between the two localities have been strengthened and deepened.

In recent years, Vietnam and Japan have enhanced bilateral cooperation in both economic and security fields. At the same time, both countries have emphasized the importance of fostering ties between localities to further bolster their partnership.

According to Mr. Hattori, Dong Nai has developed numerous industrial parks, making it an attractive destination for Japanese investors. Notably, Long Duc Industrial Park in Binh An commune is currently managed and operated by a Hyogo-based company and has already attracted six businesses from Hyogo. Mr. Hattori expressed his appreciation to the Dong Nai authorities for their continued support and hoped for further assistance to facilitate smooth business operations for Hyogo companies in the province.

For her part, Vice Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Hoang emphasized that Dong Nai values its friendly and effective partnership with Hyogo, which has expanded significantly over the past decade, particularly in the fields of economic cooperation and cultural exchange.

She also remarked that Hyogo is one of Japan’s key economic hubs, with strong capabilities in advanced industries such as aerospace, robotics, healthcare, environmental technologies, and energy. Dong Nai, therefore, welcomes and is ready to support Hyogo businesses in exploring and expanding their investment in the province.

Dong Nai remains one of Vietnam’s leading localities in attracting foreign direct investment (FDI). To date, the province has received investment from 51 countries and territories, with nearly 2,200 FDI projects and a total registered capital of over US$51 billion. Among these, Japan ranks third with 288 projects worth US$5.88 billion.

The growth of the FDI business community in general and Japanese enterprises in particular has played a significant role in the province’s economic development. These companies have contributed to job creation, and to the advancement of the industrial, commercial, and service sectors. FDI businesses continue to be a key driving force behind Dong Nai’s sustained economic progress. Dong Nai takes pride in being one of the leading localities in Vietnam in attracting foreign investment. With this in mind, Dong Nai is committed to providing the most favorable conditions in terms of policy, investment environment, legal procedures, and workforce development to ensure that Hyogo businesses can invest effectively and grow sustainably in the province.

The provincial leadership expressed hope that following this visit by the Hyogo delegation, more concrete cooperation programs will be launched, marking a new stage in the friendly relationship between the two sides, one that serves mutual interests and contributes to the prosperity of both localities.
