Improving overall training quality to meet requirements and tasks in new situation

On August 19, the 16th Congress of the Party Organization of the Army Officer Training School No.2 (AOTS2) for the 2025–2030 tenure officially opened its working session.

The event was attended by Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Truong Thang, Member of the Party Central Committee, Member of the Central Military Commission, and Deputy Minister of National Defense; Colonel Nguyen The Manh, Deputy Director of the Department of Propaganda and Training under the General Department of Politics, Head of the Working Group of the Central Military Commission’s Standing Board; and 199 delegates representing more than 3,000 Party members of the school’s Party Organization.

In his opening remarks, Lieutenant General Nguyen Xuan Son, Secretary of the Party Committee and Political Commissar of AOTS2, said the Congress was a major political event for all officers, Party members, staff and cadets of the school. Over its 15 congresses, the school’s Party Committee has maintained its role as the core leadership, a decisive factor in ensuring political, ideological, ethical, organizational and personnel strength, thereby successfully fulfilling all assigned tasks.

The Congress focused on successfully completing four key tasks: reviewing the leadership of the Party Committee during the 2020–2025 term and discussing orientations and goals for 2025–2030 term; contributing opinions to the draft documents of the higher Party congresses; electing the school’s Party Executive Committee for the 2025–2030 term; and electing delegates to attend the 12th Congress of the Party Organisation of the Vietnam People's Army (VPA) for the 2025–2030 tenure.

Delivering his directive speech, Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Truong Thang, Member of the Party Central Committee, Member of the Central Military Commission, and Deputy Minister of National Defense, praised and acknowledged the results achieved by the school’s Party Organization in the past term.

Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Truong Thang noted that during the 2025–2030 tenure, the school’s Party Organization should thoroughly grasp and implement the Party’s guidelines and orientations, especially the Resolution of the 14th National Party Congress, the Resolution of the 12th Congress of the Party Organisation of the VPA, and the National Defense Strategy in the new context. In addition, the school needs to improve the quality of military science research, promote the link between scientific research and training, and accelerate development in science, technology, innovation, and digital transformation.

Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Truong Thang requested the Party Organization to seriously implement the resolutions, conclusions, and directives of the Party Central Committee, the Central Military Commission, and the Ministry of National Defense on improving political education, legal dissemination, communications, and orientation of ideology and public opinion. The school should step up studying and following Ho Chi Minh’s ideology, morality and style in association with the campaign “Promoting traditions, dedicating talents, deserving to be Uncle Ho’s Soldiers,” with many innovative and effective models, breakthroughs in building regularity and discipline.

Deputy Minister Nguyen Truong Thang emphasized the need for the school’s Party Organization to focus on enhancing combat readiness, building the school as a model of regularity and discipline. He called on officers and Party members, especially key leaders at all levels, to set examples, be willing to think, speak, act, and take responsibility for the common good, thus carrying forward the school’s tradition of “Bravery, creativity, unity and discipline, excellence in teaching and learning” of AOTS2– Nguyen Hue University of Heroes.

In the spirit of “Solidarity, democracy, renovation, creativity, development,” the Congress elected a 17-member Executive Committee of the Party Organization of AOTS2 for the 2025–2030 term, and delegates to attend the 12th Congress of the Party Organisation of VPA for the 2025–2030 tenure.

On August 20, the Congress convenes the newly elected Executive Committee of the Party Organisation to elect the Standing Board, Secretary, Deputy Secretaries, the Inspection Commission, and the Head of the Inspection Commission of the Party Committee of AOTS2, and holds a closing ceremony in the afternoon.
