Through this, the spirit of patriotic emulation will continue to be promoted, building an increasingly modern, humane, and effective healthcare system.
"Captains" who dare to think, dare to do
Among the outstanding examples in the healthcare sector, Specialist Doctor Level II Nguyen Tuong Quang, Deputy Director in charge of Thong Nhat General Hospital, is a shining example of management capacity and medical ethics. He has effectively managed professional activities, focusing on developing specialized clinics with the participation of many domestic and international experts. Doctor Quang always emphasizes building a code of conduct within the unit, strictly adhering to the 12 medical ethics principles, and considering patient satisfaction as the measure of service quality.
Nguyen Tuong Quang is also a pioneer in applying information technology to hospital management, including electronic prescriptions, smart medical kiosks for examination and treatment registration, and cashless payment systems. With dedication and a strong sense of responsibility, he has contributed to making Thong Nhat General Hospital one of the leading provincial-level hospitals in the country. Recently, Nguyen Tuong Quang was honored with the prestigious title of Meritorious Physician by the State President.
Meanwhile, under the decisive and dedicated leadership of Specialist Doctor Level II Phan Van Huyen, Long Khanh Regional General Hospital has achieved many outstanding accomplishments in both professional work and digital transformation. The hospital has maintained expert clinics with the participation of leading doctors from Ho Chi Minh City since 2018. Many high-tech techniques, such as cardiovascular intervention, laparoscopic surgery, and modern pain relief techniques, have also been mastered by the hospital's doctors. Notably, Long Khanh Regional General Hospital is the first hospital in the province and the fourth hospital nationwide to successfully implement electronic medical records.
Among the 31 collectives honored as outstanding role models in Dong Nai's healthcare sector for the first time, in addition to provincial-level general and specialized hospitals, there are also regional general hospitals, regional medical centers, as well as departments and offices within various centers and units. Notably, the only commune-level health station recognized was Hung Phuoc Commune Health Station, under the Bu Dop Regional Medical Center.
Long Khanh Regional General Hospital is continuously consolidating its organization, implementing a financial autonomy model, creating a professional working environment, and attracting high-quality human resources. For many consecutive years, the hospital has been recognized by the Provincial People's Committee as an excellent labor collective and has received commendation certificates in the patriotic emulation movement. Doctor Huyen himself has also repeatedly achieved the title of Provincial-level Emulation Fighter and received commendation certificates from the Provincial People's Committee.
With the desire for people in remote and disadvantaged areas to access high-quality medical services right in their locality, in recent years, Specialist Doctor Level II Ta Quang Tri, Director of Dinh Quan Regional General Hospital, has implemented many innovative methods to improve the quality of examination and treatment at the hospital.
Tri stated: "For patients suffering from stroke or myocardial infarction, being transferred to higher-level hospitals means losing the 'golden window' for emergency care and treatment. That's why, in recent years, we have sent doctors and nurses for training to enhance their skills, while also adopting advanced techniques, such as stroke treatment and cerebral infarction intervention using thrombolytic drugs, transferred from higher-level hospitals. As a result, many critically ill patients have received timely emergency care."
Mastering many modern techniques
When it comes to the most effective stroke treatment unit in Dong Nai, the Neurology Department of Dong Nai General Hospital, led by Nguyen Dinh Quang, Specialist Level II, must be mentioned.

Since 2020, the department has received over 33.4 thousand outpatient visits and over 4.3 thousand inpatient treatments annually. The Stroke Unit of the Department of Neurology has continuously achieved Gold, Platinum, and Diamond certifications awarded by the World Stroke Organization. Among these, the Diamond certification is the highest level awarded to units that meet stringent standards for time in treating acute cerebral infarction patients and the percentage of patients receiving revascularization intervention.
Dr. Nguyen Dinh Quang stated: To improve the effectiveness of stroke treatment, the Department of Neurology has recently transferred stroke treatment techniques to lower-level hospitals in the province and organized an inter-hospital stroke treatment network throughout the province. This undertaking has shortened intervention time and improved patient recovery. Additionally, in 2020, the department successfully treated 3 cases of botulism from vegetarian pate, including a severely ill patient who required mechanical ventilation for many days.
The Department of Interventional Cardiology at Dong Nai General Hospital, established only in 2014, has quickly affirmed its position by successfully implementing many specialized techniques, such as coronary angiography and stenting, atrial septal defect closure, percutaneous congenital heart defect closure, pacemaker implantation, and cerebral vascular intervention. On average, the department performs about 600 vascular-cardiac interventions and 30-50 pacemaker implantations annually. This undertaking has increased the survival rate for patients with acute myocardial infarction and cardiogenic shock. Minimally invasive congenital heart intervention helps patients avoid major surgery, reducing the risk of anesthesia and infection.
The Department of General Surgery at Thong Nhat General Hospital has mastered many advanced techniques and made a significant impact. Despite the large number of patients and frequent overcrowding, the Department of General Surgery always strives to excellently complete its tasks, preventing incidents due to a lack of responsibility or patient complaints about the service attitude of medical staff in the department.
Under the leadership of Dr. Nguyen Son, Specialist Level II, the Department of General Surgery has successfully implemented many complex techniques, such as liver resection, laparoscopic gastrectomy, pancreatic trauma surgery, thyroid cancer surgery, breast cancer surgery, and laparoscopic colorectal cancer surgery.
In addition to focusing on professional expertise, the Department of General Surgery also actively transfers techniques to lower-level hospitals, supports the Lao health sector in implementing laparoscopic surgery, and has achieved many successes in scientific research. Many projects carried out by the department have been accepted and applied in practice, contributing to improving treatment quality and affirming the prestige of Dong Nai's medical team.
Dr. Do Thi Nguyen, Specialist Level II, Director of the Dong Nai Department of Health, emphasized: With the goal of "patient-centered care," many individuals and collectives in the Dong Nai health sector are striving to compete and excellently perform their assigned tasks. They embody dedication, intelligence, and a desire to contribute, making positive contributions to public healthcare and building a prosperous, beautiful, and civilized homeland.
