| Patient H.V.D is being monitored post-surgery at Hoan My Binh Phuoc Hospital after 2 surgeries. |
The patient was admitted in a semi-conscious state, with delayed responsiveness, unmeasurable blood pressure, pale skin and mucous membranes, and signs of hemorrhagic shock. He had multiple penetrating chest wounds accompanied by a complex injury to the left arm. Paraclinical results revealed a penetrating chest wound, a punctured left lung, massive bleeding in the pleural cavity, along with crushed muscle tissue and a severed vein in the left arm.
Recognizing this as a life-threatening critical case, the medical team of doctors urgently initiated intensive resuscitation, held a consultation, and decided to proceed with emergency surgery. The patient was immediately scheduled for two simultaneous operations: thoracic surgery to address a penetrating wound that passed from back to front through the left chest cavity, puncturing the lung and filling the pleural cavity with clotted blood; and surgery on the left arm to treat a wound in the mid-third of the arm, which had resulted in severed tendons and a torn arm vein.
The two surgeries lasted more than 2 hours with the participation of Dr. Thai Viet Hung, Specialist Level 2, Head of Surgery Department, and a team of experienced staff from the Anesthesia and Resuscitation Department. Despite many difficulties due to the patient's severe blood loss, with smooth coordination and high determination, the surgery was successful.
Currently, the patient has recovered from the critical condition, his health is stable, and he is being monitored post-surgery.
With a team of highly experienced, specialized doctors and systematic investment in medical equipment, Hoan My Binh Phuoc Hospital once again affirms its role in providing quality healthcare and saving lives in emergencies.
