At the working session, representatives of the Vinh Cuu Regional Medical Center outlined several ongoing challenges, including: degraded infrastructure; damaged wastewater and fire prevention systems; and medical equipment provided between 2010 and 2011 that is now no longer functional. In addition, the reporting software for non-communicable diseases overlaps in functionality; vaccination efforts remain limited; and the number of doctors is still insufficient to meet the demand for implementing high-tech procedures.
Speaking at the working session, Director of the Department of Health Do Thi Nguyen acknowledged the challenges and proposals raised by the unit, while also encouraging the medical staff and personnel of the center to overcome difficulties and fulfill their duties in providing quality healthcare for the people.
Director of the Department of Health, Do Thi Nguyen, emphasized that in terms of treatment, the Vinh Cuu Regional Medical Center must provide the best possible working environment for its current medical staff (which includes 46 doctors, with 10 more expected from inter-level and targeted training programs). At the same time, the center should offer specialized training for doctors from local sources to retain and support them in their long-term commitment to the facility.
The Director of the Department of Health requested the medical center to promote the implementation of electronic medical records, to be completed before September 30, following the Prime Minister's Directive.
